Clinix is the first all-in-one telehealth platform in Paraguay that allows patients to book and receive consultations and pay for doctors’ services without traveling to a hospital or clinic and waiting in line. Medical companies and individual medical specialists can use the Clinix web platform to work online and effectively manage their schedules and patients’ medical records. With Clinix, all information about patients’ health conditions, doctors’ notes, and medical prescriptions are available to patients around the clock.

Challenges

Rasmus Leyes and Natasha Braun, the owners of the offline Clinix clinic, and their partner Henrik Andersson came to us with an idea to launch the first telemedicine platform in Paraguay. Their goal was to make healthcare services safe and accessible for patients under pandemic conditions.

The task of our team was to create an intuitive software product that would allow doctors and hospitals to conduct medical consultations, effectively manage patients’ records, and give out prescriptions and treatment plans online. At the same time, we needed to create an easy-to-use application so patients could receive professional medical care whenever and wherever they needed it.

Our team needed to:

  • Identify all of the product’s technical and business requirements
  • Provide doctors and clinics with reliable software to deliver healthcare services, manage patients’ records, and handle doctors’ schedule
  • Allow patients to easily book consultations on their own and quickly access their health information, medical prescriptions, and treatment plans
  • Enable channels for reliable and uninterrupted communication between doctors and patients
  • Provide a way for patients to pay for services and let doctors and clinics receive income

The mobile app lets patients top up their account balances with the Pagopar payment system and with Clinix vouchers that are available at pharmacies. Patients can use their account balances to pay for consultations.

During a consultation and within 24 hours after it ends, a doctor can fill out a patient’s prescription and treatment plan. After that, the patient can access prescriptions and download them at any time.

Solutions

At first, our team carried out in-depth research of the telemedicine market in Paraguay to identify the functional features potential Clinix users required most, to determine the type of application we needed to develop, and to discover healthcare software design best practices.

We composed a list of features that would cover the needs of doctors and medical institutions when providing healthcare services online and thought it would be best to combine them all in a web application.

We offered our client to create a mobile app, since it was the best way to provide patients with round-the-clock medical treatment from qualified professionals along with quick access to their medical prescriptions.

Our team designed intuitive and clear interfaces for both web and mobile applications to let doctors and patients quickly start using the platform.

We took the following steps:

  • Created an all-in-one web application for doctors and medical institutions to deliver consultations and maintain patients’ health records
  • Implemented a scheduling calendar to enable doctors to handle their availability and time off
  • Developed an iOS and Android mobile application for patients
  • Provided patients with an appointment booking system that’s available 24/7
  • Built functionality to let patients access their medical prescriptions and download them at any time
  • Implemented high-quality video conferencing and live chat functionality to facilitate medical consultations
  • Enabled payments with the Pagopar payment gateway and Clinix vouchers, which patients can buy in pharmacies

The RG team was hired to design and develop the whole technical platform including the patient app for Android/iOS and web platform for the doctors. We took a decision based on their good reputation and that RG offered the complete solution that we were asking for.

The project is still ongoing. The RG team has developed and launched the platform, and now delivering new features. The most impressive about working with RG is that it has gone so well working with each other. Even though we are working from different continents with a seven-hour time difference and have never met in person.
