Head of Design Department

RubyGarge is looking for a talented, experienced Head of Design Department who wants to take charge of the development of our exciting projects in web-conferencing, e-commerce, fintech industries around the globe. As the Department Lead, you’ll utilize both leadership skills and technical expertise to enable UX/UI Design Team to deliver great work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage UX/UI Design Team strategy development and implementation
  • Work closely with CEO for design UX/UI Design Team strategy and set goals for growth
  • Manage and design UX/UI Design Team operational process, organize and coordinate operations in ways that ensure maximum productivity of the UX/UI Design Team in vectors: people, processes, and procedures
  • Manage the UX/UI Design Team customer services development, implementation, and provision
  • Access market conditions related to the services provision, promotion, and development
  • Find ways to increase the quality and reduce the cost of customer services
  • Manage the UX/UI Design Team’s resources utilization, engagement, and workload
  • Plan and monitor the UX/UI Design Team resources allocation on the company’s projects. Makes a decision about whom to allocate to project or service based on skills and workload
  • Work closely with the Recruitment Team for recruitment of the UX/UI Design Team staff
  • Work closely with the HR Team for the UX/UI Design Team human resources management
  • Manage the UX/UI Design Team internship program: develop an internship program, assign mentors to monitor and coordinate the internship period, make a decision about the closing of the internship
  • Manage the UX/UI Design Team budgets and profit allocations, evaluate and improve the UX/UI Design Team financial performance through establishing of effective UX/UI Design Team resources utilization system
  • Represent the UX/UI Design Team in public, promote services among the company clients, the UX/UI Design Team staff, and in the market through external communication

Requirements

  • Strong management and operational skills
  • Understanding all design process stages, using familiar designers techniques based on business and user-centered approaches: personas, interviews, competitors analysis, UX audit, wireframing & prototyping, user testing
  • Ability to build and implement the operational process, share and set-up strategy-oriented mindset among the subordinates
  • Ability to organize the work across the Design team, defined goals and KPI’s for the team
  • Excellent people management skills, ability to manage and plan the Design team staff workload, and involvement in the company’s projects
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Coaching skills: ability to continuously monitor the technical work done by Team staff, develop and implement educational programs and activities
  • Strong decision-making skills, ability to perform effective decisions (to hire a candidate, allocate the right person to the project, etc.)
  • Strategic mindset, ability to define, set up, and implement operational strategies
  • Ability to develop and achieve strategic plans
  • Experience in planning and budgeting
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with clients to understand requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision
  • Expertise in design tools such as Sketch/Figma, InVision, basic knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • Knowledge of design guidelines for web and mobile platforms
  • Understanding the opportunities and limitations of the technology that the design solution will be expressed in and working with developers to determine its implementation
  • Awareness of current trends in web/mobile design and web/mobile technologies
